Broken glasses :(
1 note
Especially the spell checker that a majority of you don’t even use on a daily basis. This shit is a doozie to program.
Can’t watch the FC Barcelona VS. Real Madrid game in any of the streams because of ^
blaraghghaghaghahghaghahgaghghaghhgh
At least I follow awesome people that keep me posted with gifs of the happy-hap.
Finally got to put up my iron throne poster that HBO gave my girlfriend, then me!
I’ve been reflective tonight so I figured I would jot some notes down and be that person.
If I were to grade these past three months, I’ll say this summer receives an 8 out of 10. A solid B average. What’s the rubric you might ask? Well a couple of things were superb, others lacked in luster. Here is my personal rubric of all things summer that pertained to me:
1) School :: Since this was the majority of my summer, I’ll start off with this.
a) Physics II - This class was an absolute drain. It was a 5 credit hour class that met for 12 weeks and each of those weeks I had an exam, a crap ton of online homework problems, a 4-5 hour lab, and actual lecture/recitation four times a week. Some things were absolutely awesome (like playing with high-powered lasers and learning about some electrical components) but the majority was a pure waste of precious beach time.
b) Mobile Programming - This class opened up my eyes to a whole new world from my major. It was a class where I learned the fundamentals of programming for the Android OS, learning how to design and make apps of all sorts. Some projects I made include: “Help! I’ve been kidnapped!” , “Bomboclat - A Battleship Game”, “Pocket Kitchen” and “Phone Phinder”. I am extremely interested and excited to continue this line of study, and hopefully I get the job that I applied for at FSU to be a research assistant for the mobile development group! In the Fall they are offering the course again with the original professor that spent his summer at the Google HQ interning in mobile development and he is going to teach a google-tastic upgrade of the class. I really want to take it, hopefully my schedule permits me.
2) Social ::
a) Trips - I took three noteworthy trips this summer. One was to South Florida with my girlfriend which I originally was just going to spend Labor Day weekend hanging out with her family and enjoy Weston for the last time since my parents had moved out of the country in January and her parents are moving tomorrow to Philadelphia. But instead, my family decided to surprise me with a surprise visit from Panama and we ended up hanging out instead, which was also great. I’m going to see them again next week in Orlando, which I’m excited for but would still rather enjoy some peace and quiet on my own as a real vacation.
The second trip was to Tampa to visit some old friends and party. It was an alright trip, but goddamn some parts of that city are god awfully ghetto. I don’t foresee any more trips down there unless there is some sort of beach or amusement park adventure instead of spending a whole Saturday “blacklight party proofing” a goddamn apartment. Don’t get me wrong, my friends rule but that wasn’t why I wanted to travel for four hours.
The third trip was to St. George Island, to my friend’s beach house and it was my favorite weekend from this whole summer. Waking up and jogging along the coast, taking a nap on the coast, waking up and drink a mimosa, swimming and crab catching, eating fresh seafood, drinking games, poking fun of one another. And considering it is less than 2 hours away from Tallahassee, I hope there are more trips to come.
b) Friends - This city is a ghost town during the summer. A majority of the people that stay behind are people like me that need to stay on track at school or have jobs, or they are locals. So my longing to bond with old friends or make new ones was far from what I had in mind. But I hope this changes, come the fall. I already know a good number of people that are taking the same classes as me but I really don’t want to only be colleagues with them. Each semester I keep realizing how hard it is to make friends, and believe me I’ve tried. They say when you first come to college you should involve yourself in a number of clubs to maximize your potential at making friends but even after joining Cuong-Nhu Martial Arts for a semester, playing for FSU Rugby for a year and a half, being part of Alpha Phi Omega for two years I still don’t really feel like I have the connection I want with someone on a friendship level. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the people I have in my life but I still feel like something is missing.
c) Hobbies - I really got into Starcraft II this summer. I still suck horribly (Bronze) but I am determined into getting better. I have been watching pro matches and circuits (I spent a few weekends ago planted in front of my monitor watching MLG Anaheim, and it was awesome, plus some of the GSL and Euro Battle.net Invitationals that happened yesterday). Besides Starcraft, Xbox and Netflix are a wondrous combination. I’ve met the Doctor (Who), I’ve watched and rewatched some series, fell in love (kidding) with a couple of tubbers that own a pawn shop in Las Vegas (Pawn Stars). And of course, soccer stayed strong. For almost a month, weather permitting, I’ve been training to try out for the FSU Men’s Soccer Club team in the Fall. I don’t think I’ll get chosen but I still would like to be a part of the team, somehow or another.
3) Residency::
a) Summer residence - This past Summer has been a blast living at Richmond Place. The two roommates I had were the best ones I’ve had the pleasure of living with. Since college, before moving here, I had 11 different roommates and in only 3 months they managed to climb the ladders and rank tied at 1st. They have set the bar high for my next roommates and I hope we still can hang out (especially considering our TV and food interests!)
Here’s one, and here’s the other!
b) Upcoming residence - Tomorrow at noon I get the key to my new apartment/townhome and I am very excited mainly because of two reasons: I finally get a room of my own and I finally get to experience living with a dog. I have the opportunity of setting up the room just the way I want it (finally a Mancave to call my own!). Having a dog has been a dream of mine ever since I lost fear of them in elementary school (when I was 5, I was attacked by three black Rotweilers. There wasn’t any physical damage but every time I would hear a dog bark I’d start crying). My mom always wanted one but my dad’s word was always final and since we moved around so much, we never could. I’ll either love it or hate it and I promised my girlfriend if I end up hating it, I’ll get a cat as my first real pet (Clark Kent, my fish, is only a secondary lesser-pet but don’t tell him that).

I don’t expect anyone to actually read through this whole thing but if you do, feel free to message, or comment or anything! I’m down to talk about whatever :)
